  • "Why 'Frazzled' Artworks?"

My vision behind 'Frazzled Artworks' first came to light in the mid-2000's, where a lot of my personal work was directly influenced by my beloved feline companion; Frazzle.

She was forever by my side, joining in with all manner of bizarre hobbies stemming through Secondary School, College and University. I am of the belief that animals play such a pivotal role in our lives and to share my teenage years with such an exceptional individual is a blessing I will forever hold dear.

Back then my favourite thing to do was to draw. Frazzle would be curled up by my side, or on my lap so naturally I drew a lot of cats and other animals back then before eventually reaching University and getting stuck in to my BA (HONS) Degree in Technical and Information Illustration. It would be during this 3 year course, that I would go on to lose my dear Frazzle to a stroke and with her, a sense of my own artistic identity that would take over a decade to rekindle.

The nature of my education would see me move from traditional drawing and painting techniques to those of a digital persuasion before eventually landing a full-time role as an artist of Computer Generated Imagery [CGI]. Drawing animals became over-shadowed by automotive subject matters and although this is also a keen interest of mine, it is a far cry from my artistic roots.

However, after years of laying dormant, I rediscovered my love of traditional art in 2017.
Now, I love to draw and paint again, focusing predominantly on the equine and feline form.

I use an array of mediums from pastel and coloured pencil  to -most recently- oil paints as well as traditional linework illustration techniques and watercolours. I am self-taught in pretty much all the mediums I use.

Although my educational background played a vital role in shaping my artistic eye for detail and understanding of shadow and light, the fundamentals go back to those days as a young girl; just sat in her room, drawing pictures with her cat.
I am proud that the work I produce to this day still bears the name 'Frazzled Artworks'. The lasting legacy we formed together in my youth lives on and I wouldn't be the artist I am today if not for those precious-and sadly all too few-years we spent together.
